Al-Taj News –
The Southern Military Region foiled early Monday a major attempt to smuggle narcotics in a specialized operation during which directed balloons carrying large quantities of drugs were detected while en route to Jordanian territory.
Border Guard units, within their area of responsibility, detected the balloons, intercepted and brought them down inside Jordanian territory, and seized their cargo in coordination and cooperation with the security and military agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department.
The seized items were referred to the relevant authorities to complete the necessary legal and investigative procedures.
The Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army affirmed that smuggling and infiltration attempts, regardless of the methods and means used to carry them out, will be met with firmness and the full operational and intelligence capabilities available. It stressed the readiness of Border Guard units to confront any attempt targeting the Kingdom’s security and stability.
The Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army continues its intensive operations to protect the borders and prevent their exploitation for drug smuggling or any activities that threaten national security and the safety of citizens.
